Bench Tannehill? No! Cut Tannehill!

What is it year 5 now? How much longer does this guy get? We've seen them draft and sign lineman. Draft and sign receivers. Multiple coordinators and the whisperer.

Sure he gets decent stats. But he can't win games and that is all that matters.

Meanwhile you have plethora of rookie and other assorted young guys who are winning. Now. With whatever they got.

Great players elevate their team. Clearly this guy doesn't belong in that conversation.

And I just saw that Tannehill ranks 29th on ESPNs QBR which is a measure of his stats and success.

The supporters will say "he just needs...whatever." And you know he'll keep starting and probably will come back next year too. But ... Why?

I'm just happy to see the rest of the National commentators seeing what we dolphins already know that Ryan T is not the answer and is far from being a franchise Qb.... we need to trade or cut him his year and get the small cap relief.

Not sure It's as simple as thats. Tannehill would eat ten million dead Money wise Plus a plethora of millions on the books already and we all know reshad lights out Jones os gona want yo revisit thats contract situation at seasons end. You think he giving up? Nope. He just leveraging doing wat he does best, that way he can point out the back to back years of success

I'm all in with starting Doughty.

If the players revolt and hold their ground; the owner will have to do something soon and drastic.
We do not want to see tannehill under center in Miami ever again. If we make enough noise during the bye week; we are bound to get some results before our next game. I suspect that we will see Doughty or Moore under center next week

If I could not trade tannehill then I would cut him and get the move over with. If we make the playoffs then the organization will make that money back quickly.

Lol @ you guys, clueless.

avatar

he needs a oline and different play calls quick slants , untill something opens deep , and wouldnt hurt if we had a back that was big like blount that is good for 3-4 every down,, its not all tanny sure he has been overwhelmed but who wouldnt be

avatar

@ Mr.Moneybaggzz not only Jones contract but it might also be wise to try and sign Landry to a future contract after this season 3rd year of 4 year contract he might come cheaper.

avatar

I understand and agree with the frustration with Tannehill... but with the contract we have with him isnt it better for us to "wait on him" and fix up the rest of our problems? we have a young offence get them set and fix the cb/lb and set up a stable system so a rookie can develop? no point of getting a 1st rounder if we have not got the personnel around him to develop.

Tannehill has some blame but Gase is not Throwing him under the bus, He is actually calling out the rest of the Offense. I see him making throws, especially the Deep ball that he was so terrible at(some said), but if you drop back 3 or 5 steps and a defender is in your face, what is he to do? Did you see the game? The Oline was horrible. At the beginning of the season his receivers had dropitis, no running game and he still keep the Phins 1 possession from winning from super bowl caliber teams. I believe in Gase, who believes in Tannehill. All these Negative comments remind me of O. Kelly. Stop being apart of the problem and be part of the solution.

Tannehill definitely has his problems, but at this moment he really isn't the problem. Too bad he missed all those blocks.

We all knew the first 4 games were killers. 1-3 was a realistic start. The next 4 games are at home and that will be the time that the true evaluations of where this team is. Its easy as a fan to watch the game an say we suck based on what we see. We played Cincy on an extremely short week with multiple players hurt and no real practice time. We have been on the road for 3 of the first for weeks. We are home until Nov 13 then we head back west for 2 in a row against SD and SF. Lets judge this teams performance over the home stand when everyday things remain routine. Gase's teams in Denver and Chicago struggled early in installation of his offense and then things started clicking after about 5 weeks in. After this homestand if things remain unchanged I'm all for making a change. From watching Gase's approach early to leaving players home and benching or pulling starters I dont think he will be scared to pull Tanny if he see's no improvement. Any of us fans that thought we are a playoff team this year are unrealistic. Lets just hope the new staff has the right vision. Time will tell if Tanny/Tanne combo needs to go

Whatever in this case is a running game
whatever # 2 Consistent offensive line play

if we ge rid of tannekill and walk away from Tannehill after 2016 they would only be on the hook for 6.9 million in dead money from the bonus and 3.5 million of the 2017 season (will explain the 3.5 mil below). If Ryan were to be traded the team would only be on the hook for the 6.9 million.

I am watching the colts play the Jags and I also see Luck sucking it up I think the Colts need to cut him. I don't want to hear that the line sucks that's no excuse. I just saw a tipped pass at the line intercepted. I don't want to hear the line sucks that's no excuse. I don't want to hear the receivers are dropping the ball either. Last year he was 15 tds to 12 ints I don't want to hear he was hurt that's no excuse. A couple of weeks ago I saw a sack fumble here again I don't want to hear terrible line he apparently has no pocket presence either let's cut him. He gets paid a ton of money he needs to raise the play of the people around him. Oh wait he has been to the playoffs why not lately? Because the team sucks. I am not buying that he took them to the playoffs without a good team so I am not buying that now. CUT LUCK NOW!! We demand it. They are 1-2 and losing to the lowly Jags. CUT LUCK NOW!!

I would give doughty a shot.

Doughty will get a shot....next year. Gase will do everything possible to save Ross's investment in RT. Nothing for us Phin fans to do but suck it in. Sorry. RT is going to be given every oppty to show he is or isn't the dude. While most of us think he is not, our opinion doesn't matter. Once RT fails this year and Gase tells Ross, this cat is an WR in a QB's suit, then RT is gone. Not before, not before we go 6-10 again.

avatar

how many teams make the playoffs with a running game ranked towards the bottom of the league? run defense ranked 31,to compliment a secondary that gives up 100 qb ratings to backup qbs? almost want him benched so ucan see for yourselves its not all on tje qb

avatar

thill 47... LOL are fkng kidding me comparing a Luck to Tannekill is comparing a WR to A REAL yOU MUST HAVE WRITTEN UR bs IN THE FIRST qtr lUCK ALMOST bROUGHT THE TEAM BACK , !!!!!!!! please go write somewhere else !

avatar

Funny,,,Tannehill "almost" brought the team back against NE, but everyone said "almost" doesn't count and he still sucks...interesting how the same rules dont apply to other QBs......

avatar

didn't know almost against a winless team counts but ok.... way to go luck

avatar

That was my point exactly. Thill almost brought them back against NE. And we say he sucks because he didn't do anything in the first half so our defense was winded, and Luck doesn't do anything in the first half and almost brought them back and we praise him because he almost brought them back against an 0-3 team. We make excuses about he was sacked 6 times he has a terrible line it's not his fault. I saw throws from luck off target as well. I am not saying Thill is the answer either, but he is far from the major problems on this team. I think we have put everything on him being the problem. I don't care who you put at qb the last few years we were not going to the playoffs. A lot of us are unrealistic on what was happening this year. We complain about tipped passes on the line it's all anthills fault and every other qb does it too and it's the lines fault. You can bench Thill and it's not going to change a thing. We can draft a qb next year and if we don't change a lot of other things the results are going to be the same. We have a lot of problems that need to be addressed before anything changes. I have watched the Fins since 66 and you can not have the turnover we have had in coaches and coordinators and expect anything different. Thill is not the major problem is what I am saying.

avatar

You missed the point completely; Luck has shown he is a franchise QB who can rally his team to victory. Tannehill hasn't done shit in 4.25 years except post good numbers in trash time.

We are 1-5 and should be 0-5. The lowly Dolphins miss playoffs again and tannehill is definitely gone. All these overpaid non productive name ought to donate their checks. This teams an embarrassment to the fans, the league and themselves, no pride. Keep rashad Jones is the only one who plays his heart out, give him tannehill contract.Mr gase and Mr Ross, get that kid Rosen, he's a real qb. Tannehill would be a backup at UCLA right now.
