How about 7-11 Hogan

I remember When he was in our training camp and everybody kept talking about how he always got open or was always open.

So then roster cuts come around and he gets cut. I always wondered why if the kid was always open.

Whatever the reason, our coaches let him go rather than coach him up develop the kid who was always open.

Now he's going to the Superbowl with our worst enemy and nemesis the New England Patriots, now he is in position to burn us twice a year just like Welker did.

So thank God we have better coaches now and that's the last of the Philbin nightmares.

Hopefully our coaches can stop him from becoming Welker's second coming and get us over NE hump.

We damn sure let some fine players get away.Hopefully we will be better at keeping our own.

It took him 5 years....i don't understand how people think we should hold on to a guy for 5 years in case he's good

Yeah, we have Philbin to thank for losing Hogan and players like Vontae David, Rishard Matthews, etc.

When Hogan left, he was in buffalo before the pats. He didn't do anything for buffalo! Brady is why he and welker did so good!

With the Bills He was with another bad team now is when he has good coaching and good QB.

I think we cut him because of "NIH- not invented here syndrome." We kept our own draft picks, thinking that since we picked them, they must have been better. Remember, Philbin was an idiot.

Holy Mackerel. Every team cuts guys. Every team picks up some of those guys from time to time.

Hogan bounced around. Good for him he is playing in the Super Bowl.

The bigger story is whether Brady will retire if he wins his 5th ring.

So Hogan came into the league in 2011. Was with Niners, Giants and Dolphins. I remember him from hard knocks, liker him so followed after that. He was a non factor for the Bills in 2012, 2013. In 2014 he had a good year with the Bills. In 2016 Pats got Hogan as a restricted free agent. So after 5 years of development on someone else's dime he is signed and has another good year. Same on the Bills for letting him get away as he had blossomed there. This is not on the Dolphins letting him go in 2011 as Hogan was years away from being a factor and there is virtually no team that will give an unrestricted free agent WR 5 years to develop. This is not a case of the dreaded Patriots recognizing great talent and polishing it, it is about them signing good talent and having a system that promotes the next step. I think we may have that system now or at least the beginnings of it. But anyway, short version of story, Hogan was not nearly ready when we had a swing at him. IMHO.

I agree with a lot of the posters here. I think the Dolphins recognized the talent but Hogan just wasn't ready or a fit for a floundering team. He blossomed in NE after getting some experience with other teams, and getting into a good coaching system with a HOF QB. He didn't have those things in Miami. I'm happy for him and wish him the best except when he plays Miami. GO PHINS~!
