It Ain't Pretty....But I'll Take It!

In a game when Ryan Tanne-Hype was supposed to take advantage of a dismal Jets pass defense, it was a second chance Kick Off return that was the highlight of the day.

Not to discredit an improved defense even though they gave up plenty of penalty yardage to allow the Jets to extend a few drives into points, they still made enough plays, featuring interceptions by Jordan Phillips and Bobby McCain, two sacks by Cameron Wake, plus two big plays by Ndamukong Suh during the Jets last possession.

This game was par for the course when the Jets play the Dolphins.  Lots of wacky plays from a dropped snap on a punt to a punt return for a TD brought back by penalty. The game boasted 5 lead changes.

RT didn't win this game in the 4th quarter as it appeared he may have to with just under 6 minutes left but he certainly did nothing to lose it. Which is a good thing.

We had plenty to cheer and of course moan about through out this classic seesaw battle between these rivals.

What impressed me most was the solid running game to grind out the W at the end. And that final formation with 2 WRs split way out wide on each side forcing the Jets to have only 7 men in the box to stop the run.

Good luck with that.

So we are 4-4 and headed west for two weeks to face the Chargers and then the Rams.

These will not be easy wins for anybody but if we can play well enough to win, we could come back home at 6-4.

Also, after tonight's Raiders Broncos game, unless there is a tie, one of them will fall to 3 losses, leaving us a game out of the Wild Card hunt.

For now, I'll enjoy this victory over the Jets no matter how ugly it was.

We finally got a closer in the bullpen. There use to be a lot of blown saves in games like this. Clutch plays by the offence in the final minutes have won the last 3 games

Yes Phil. Great analogy. As a Yankee fan, we now have Mo Rivera coming out to seal the W. Maybe they should play "Enter Sandman" at Hard Rock before we start our final drive late in a game.

Biggest positive was the way Phins ground out the last 6 mins with a punishing run game that they never gave up. Ajayi kept getting stronger and stronger. Once he got past the Dline he was unstoppable.Gase was smart, no need to have Tannehill blow it in the end with sacks and or INT. The defense bent but was not awful. Without that ridiculous punt attempt drop, Jets never would have gotten the lead in the first place. It is really satisfying to KILL THE JESTS and their season. With 6 L's, they are done, fried green tomatoes..lol !

So true Edwin. I am not sure if Watchung us grind out the W at the end was more satisfying than ending the Jets season.

PUT A FORK IN THE j-e-t-s SUCK, SUCK, SUCK!!!

Here's to hoping this team just keeps grinding them out...

How about a new NFL stat about penalties that are just like turnovers. Both teams gave the other lots of second chances today. Back to baseball Stills and Parker sometimes hit the long ball but never get on base. 3 catches for 19 yds total today. Now with a nice running game play action passing would be a great weapon the rest of the season if these guys ever get open.

3 in a row and back in the hunt, Jose.

I would be curious to see how many points are scored after drive continuing penalties on 3rd downs.

Good idea Phil.

Play action is working well now. Stills is streaky and Parker does need to get into the mix. Parker had a couple big games at the end of last year so I thought he would have been more productive this year.

I was hollering at my tv in the first half, Ajayi and Tannehill were getting clobbered and almost every time, offensive linemen were standing around, watching, after the Jets D blew by them.

I heard you at my place, canamdolphin.

BTW....what was that explosion when Drake ran the Kick Off back for a TD?

This game was a toss up. Glad Dolphins came out on top but it easily could have gone the other way. The penalties were just over the top and really hurt both teams at times. Glad for the W though, i freaking HATE the Jets.

Here here Sir Gary.

We could have easily lost this game like so many in the past.

Hopefully we have turned the corner and now know how to find a way to win ugly when needed.

I'm not even discouraged by the mistakes. Dolphins/Jets games are never pretty on either side. The important thing is that the curse of losing to the Jets at home the past few years was finally broken and that is encouraging. We have a chance have a great divisional record.

Yes we did and yes we do Jeremy!
